Many of BT's customers have experienced problems with its broadband and telephone services. The firm first acknowledged the issues in a tweet shortly after 09:00 BST and said they had been resolved three and a half hours later.
Vodafone UK today launches its Superfast Fibre broadband service for the country’s small businesses. Vodafone Business Broadband and Phone will enable the UK’s small businesses to stay connected whether their employees are in the office or on the go, seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
BT has been told by MPs it must "invest significantly" in the business responsible for most of the country's broadband roll-out - or split it off. The quality of service offered by BT's Openreach subsidiary "remains poor", they said.
XLN has outlined plans to deliver free public Wi-Fi to every high street and postcode in the UK. The network will initially be rolled out to 15,000 of its small business customers. However, the ultimate aim is to extend this to its entire customer base.
Openreach as begun trialling a new process that could see new fibre broadband networks being created across the UK. Five companies including WarwickNet and Callflow are taking part in its trials of simplified duct and pole sharing processes.
TalkTalk and Sky are non-committal on the topic of whether they will take advantage of Openreach's new fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband network. The technology was recently announced by Openreach as an ultrafast 330Mbps capable offering that is capable of being upgraded to speeds of 1Gbps in the future.
